Admissions and Referrals

In order to be considered for admission to Riverside’s programming, you must meet medical necessity standards of care, be at least thirteen years of age, deemed able to participate and benefit from available treatment services, and have o acute mental health symptoms that would interfere with treatment. Program participants must also be able to utilize public/personal resources in consistently transporting themselves to the site and be able to negotiate the site’s physical plant with minimal assistance.
Each prospective client receives a thorough evaluation with medical oversight by board-eligible physicians. The appropriate level of care is determined by individual client needs and based on a multidisciplinary treatment approach. Referrals are accepted from clinical and medical professionals, insurers, state agencies, clergy, family members and friends. Most insurance companies provide coverage fro Riverside Care’s programs. A sliding scale fee is available to clients who do not have the ability to pay.

How long does treatment usually last?
The length of time that consumers are involved in treatment varies significantly and is strictly based on personal need and rate of progress. The staff of Riverside Care hopes that each program participant derives maximum benefits from their involvement and successfully completes their treatment experience. Successful completion means that you will have made significant progress on your treatment goals, have clarity on your continuing needs, and have participated in the development of an aftercare plan to help focus your continuing recovery efforts. With these elements in place, your prospects for ongoing recovery and growth are greatest.

What should I expect if I’m admitted to Riverside Care?
Riverside Care offers a broad array of psycho-educational and psychotherapeutic services designed to respond to consumer need. Individualized treatment plans will be developed for each program participant and will focus on your unique issues, needs and personal goals. Individual, group, couples or family therapy may be recommended based on perceived needs.
Riverside recognizes the importance of an individualized recovery plan and begins treatment with a thorough assessment of the client’s history of use specific problem areas, vulnerabilities, strengths and available personal support systems. Developing a workable, realistic plan to help the client achieve and maintain sobriety is an important component of Riverside’s treatment approach. Addiction education,, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, groups, individual and family psychotherapy and life and social skills rehabilitation are combined with the various external support systems (i.e. AA, CA, Alanon, Alateen, NA and other community supports to help achieve this goal.

What if I don’t have insurance?

Where do you stand on abstinence vs. harm-reduction?
We believe that abstinence from all mood-altering chemicals is an essential part of the recovery and restoration to healthy productive functioning. In order to assist the person to begin and remain drug free, active involvement in self-help groups is suggested to compliment any counseling and education that is provided. Riverside care believes that treatment for the disease of addiction must assist people in dealing with every aspect of their lives in an alcohol free or drug free state.
